The Basic Streaming Setup for Live Broadcasts in 2021
May 2021 / Video and Live Stream

Most people started live streaming to ease their boredom. I know getting started is not easy, especially if you do not have any idea of the streaming setup you need.
In this article, I will guide you on how to come up with a great streaming setup so you can start live streaming.
Why Is Live-Streaming A Must In 2021?
Nowadays, everything can be done virtually. Shopping, selling, and even showcasing talents–these are the things people do when they stream.
Live-streaming has become one of the most popular ways of reaching out to people across the globe. It has turned out to be a must-use avenue for people to communicate and do their own businesses.
If you are one of those people who want to start live streaming but do not know how to start, let me help you by giving tips on the basic streaming setup you can have.
The Basic Streaming Setup

I know you want to have an extraordinary online broadcast experience, but the question is “what streaming setup should you consider?”
Having a great setup has been a challenge to streamers. Though it is easy to start and go live if you want to start competing with tons of streamers out there, consider the streaming equipment I have listed down for you!
Camera
You can start live-streaming using a mirrorless camera, a webcam, or even a mobile phone. But if you want to invest in a perfect camera for all your live streams, here are my recommendations:
Canon VIXIA HF R800

The best among the rest of the camcorders that I know so far. Canon VIXIA HF R800 is a user-friendly camcorder with extraordinary features needed for live streaming and any other form of a live broadcast. You can have it handheld or place it on a tripod for smooth recording. You can get one for about $139.99 dollars. Click here to read about its specifications.
Panasonic HC-V770 HD

The next best camera model I can recommend for live broadcasts is the HC-V770. I am a fan of Panasonic HC because it comes at an affordable price cheaper than the other model that came before it. It captures photos with excellent quality which is way comparable to what the R800 can do during live streaming. Go here to know more about V770.
GoPro HERO8

This action camera has been the go-to camera brand of travel and sports vloggers. It is similarly compared to great action cameras that come with tons of accessories, extra batteries, and bigger storage capacities. It’s also compact, waterproof, and shockproof making it the most suitable camera brand for live streaming sports. Check GoPro Hero8’s specifications.
Best Budget Webcams For Streaming Setup
Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam 1080p

When you want to improve your computer’s webcam, get C922 to replace it. Stream and record vibrant, true-to-life videos with this webcam brand. It allows you to shoot two things at once through its omnidirectional camera and even get footage of you while you broadcast. It has also built-in twin microphones that provide the best sound quality as you go live. Read more about C922.
Logitech C920S HD Pro Webcam

Another option I have for the best webcam is the C920S. C920S works both in live streaming and recording at the same time but is used most preferably in gaming. It has a Full HD 1080P camera that works well with Skype, Mac, and Ghangouts. That also includes a built-in high-definition microphone that makes it one of the best webcams that are suitable to use when going live in Twitch and other live streaming platforms. See more about C920S.
Razer Kiyo Streaming Webcam

If C922 and C920s are unavailable, grab Razer Kiyo. It is the third-best webcam option that I can suggest you get for live streaming. This webcam can produce excellent quality streamed and recorded videos in different video quality formats. Razer Kiyo has a built-in ring light that makes it way different from other camera brands above.
Best Budget Mirrorless Cameras for Streaming Setup
Panasonic Lumix G7 Mirrorless Camera

Lumix G7 is considered best for its real-time movement during recording and live streaming. This is because of its high-resolution imaging. It captures 4K video recording and works excellently when combined with a high-speed internet connection allowing it to connect to various network types. It has tons of extraordinary features that are necessary for a greater experience in live streaming.
Panasonic Lumix GH4

Lumix GH4 comes with mirrorless technology and high-definition camera quality and a touch screen control panel that makes it the best camera for live streams. It captures every detail of the film recorded and often comes with breathtaking results. This is also excellent on its weatherproofing feature making it more compatible to use in YouTube live streaming outdoors.
Microphone
Sound quality usually comes with the camera of your choice. So, make sure that when you choose your filming device the quality of sound is also considered.
There are lots of great microphones out there, but here are my recommendations:
Elgato Wave 3

One of my most recommended brands when it comes to microphones is Elgato. Hence, want to recommend Wave 3 as it has tons of amazing features that can help your broadcasts great.
This USB condenser microphone has a tight cardioid polar pattern that captures speech with precision. It can also deliver analog to digital conversion of up to 24-bit / 96kHz for a more lush detail. Moreover, its superior circuitry feature is great as it ensures seamless audio signal transmission. Read more about Elgato Wave’s lit features here.
Boya BY-PM700

This USB condenser microphone is compatible with Windows and Mac Computers. It is suitable for recording, interviews, podcasting, and more! It can capture your audio distinctly in up to 16 bit/48 kHz resolution, making it one of the most reliable microphones out there for recording and live streaming. And if you love going out, you can fold this mic down for easy storage and transport. Read more about Boya BY-PM700.
Streaming Software
Live streaming is not and will never be complete without the appropriate streaming software to carry out the online broadcast successfully. Consider the following suggestions below and enjoy doing your streaming setup!
OBS Studio

The Open Broadcaster Software Studio is considered as part of the starter pack that novice live streamers hold. It comes with a technology that allows its users to navigate easily in the platform while going live. OBS works best in Windows, Mac, and Linux. The platform itself can be customized depending on your mood or point of interest. However, its downside will be it is open-source that shows no official support to each of its existing users.
Streamlabs OBS

This streaming platform is a better version of Open Broadcaster Studio that makes the software itself easier to utilize. It can be used for free and usually offers support with cool features that are very attractive and useful to gaming streamers. SLOBS is not as functional as OBS to other operating systems because it only works best in Windows. Read more about Streamlabs.
XSplit

This user-friendly streaming platform comes with free and premium access to the platform. You must have an ample amount of idea about encoding even though it is easy to use since there are no presets available on it. Also, you will be obliged to get the paid version if you wished to avoid watermarks or locked features during live streaming.
vMix

This streaming software is an advantage if you are a pro live streamer and want to have software that comes with a basic plan. It is a great choice for 4k live streaming combined with many advanced features, great support, and helps you upgrade the software easily based on your needs. It may only be a good choice for Windows users because live streaming from a Mac will offer no great results. See more about vMix.
Other Things To Consider Before Live Streaming
Good Internet Connection
All the powerful live-streaming devices and software you use for the online broadcast are nonsensical if you have poor internet reception at home. Hence, you have to secure your Wi-Fi connection before you start broadcasting.
The ideal internet upload speed required to have a worthwhile live streaming experience is not lower than 60 Mbps. The same download speed is also recommended to achieve the goal and a PING not higher than 10 Ms.
Lighting
Lighting also plays a significant role in creating high-quality and professional streams. Without proper lighting, your live streams will suffer, causing you to lose viewers and followers.
If you are planning to start, know that there’s no amount of lighting that can make a poor-quality camera look good. But, getting the best lighting will definitely get the most out of your camera and make your stream look high-quality.
Start Now!
Deciding on the best streaming setup may be a challenging activity you will encounter as you prepare for your first live streaming experience. But with all my recommendations, I hope you will soon get decided and start.
I understand that choosing the best live streaming equipment can be a little expensive. So if you don’t have the budget yet but you already want to start, get started using your mobile phone! Watch this video and learn about the best budget mobile setup for your YouTube streaming. Enjoy watching!
